
Kevin Washington, PhD (Mwata Kairi)
Mwata Sankara (Kevin Washington) is an Afrikan-Centered psychologist licensed in Florida and Washington, DC lecturer and mental health advocate who promote wellness of dispossessed and marginalized people. He has taught/lectured at several colleges and universities nationally and internationally. Currently, he is a Distinguished Visiting Associate Professor of Psychology at Morehouse College as well as the National Program Director of Black Marriage Day, President of Black Mental Health Matters, Founder and CEO of Roots Afrika and founding board member and Acting President of the World Mental Health Coalition. Moreover, he is the CEO and Founder of Nyansapo Empowerment Consultant, a mental health private practice with offices in the US and The Gambia, West Afrika. Not only does he work on healing the psycho-spiritual wounds that are present within people as a result of Cultural and Historical Trauma, he continues developing healing paradigms for diverse people He advances culturally-relevant trauma informed care and interventions to be utilized in psychotherapy and counseling. Through his practice, research and writing he assists people to live life with power, purpose and passion.
